​Learners from the participating classes spoke about one of the courses they were involved in. The learners used the AMORES teaching methodology to show how it can be used.
Two learners who had taken part in the bilateral exchange visit to Łódź, Poland, during the project also told the audience about their visit to this beautiful country, and showed a movie from the visit.
In the end appreciation awards handed out to the winning learners, teachers and the school.

From January to June students and teachers continued to pilot the AMORES teaching methodology, with the aim of finding out if using the methodology will increase student engagement with literature. Students were busy reading, creating a range of e-artefacts, and sharing these with their peers in other European countries in videoconferences. Students from all the project countries also held a joint videoconference in April to mark World Book Day.
In March the teachers met up for another workshop in Stoke-on-Trent, UK, and regular partner meetings took place in Poland and Sweden. In April and May students and teachers from Croatia, Denmark, Poland and Sweden both visited and hosted students and teachers from another country. The school year ended with the opening of the international e-artefact competition.
The final months of the project allowed the researchers to determine that the AMORES teaching methodology does increase student engagement with literature. Workshops were held in all project countries to share with as many educators as possible practical ideas on how to use the methodology, and project findings were presented at conferences.

The central part of this special occasion was the awards ceremony where appreciation awards were given to the project partners in recognition of their dedicated work on the project, as well as achievement awards to the winners of the first international AMORES E-artefact Competition held earlier this year. Following the final event, project participants finally had an opportunity to relax a little and enjoy the atmosphere of the lovely city of Dubrovnik before travelling home.
 
 
 
 
 

​The day started off with the last partner meeting on the project. Following the pattern of previous meetings – held over the last two years in Greece, Denmark, Poland and Sweden – team members from nine partner organisations gathered at the Valamar Lacroma Hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia, to share project results and discuss the wrapping up of the project, as well as any follow-up activities.
In the afternoon Dr Geoff Walton and Dr Mark Childs, of Northumbria University and Coventry University respectively, held a workshop at the annual CUC (CARNet Users Conference). These two researchers on the project presented the possibilities offered by the use of ICT, and specifically the AMORES teaching methodology, in the teaching of literature.
Piloting the AMORES teaching methodology in five schools across Europe has demonstrated clearly that the methodology increases learner engagement with works of literature. The workshop participants, all working in the field of education, were very interested to hear how the methodology could be applied in their own contexts.

Fourteen teachers attended the interactive workshop run by Janet Hetherington of Staffordshire University, one of the project partners. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the innovative AMORES teaching methodology to the participants – mostly primary and secondary teachers of Croatian language and literature, and English language – and familiarize them with the possibilities of fostering student engagement with national literature through the use of ICT. This is the last in a series of workshops for teachers on the AMORES teaching methodology run by Janet Hetherington, following similar highly successful and well attended workshops in Sweden, Poland and Denmark. 

Earlier this morning CARNet representatives, as well as those from Skægkærskolen in Denmark, and St. Mary's Catholic Primary School in the UK, met with the principal and the librarian of Lapad Primary School. The meeting was an opportunity for the project coordinator, Ms Gordana Jugo, to present the project, as well as for the visiting schools to introduce themselves. The principal said that the AMORES project provided an excellent opportunity for teacher professional development, and collaboration with other schools in the EU. 

An eventful week in Dubrovnik will officially wrap up the two busy years for everyone involved in the AMORES project. The events are being held alongside the annual CUC (CARNet Users Conference), hosted by CARNet, the lead partner on the project, and taking place at the Valamar Lacroma hotel from 18-20 November.

Project partner representatives – students, teachers and steering group members from partner countries – have a full schedule, the highlight of which is the final event of the project on Friday, 20 November. The final event is open to all delegates of CUC 2015. Watch this space for updates as the events unfold! 

This revised version incorporates important insights that the project team have gained from piloting the methodology in five schools and with approximately 400 students across Europe in the school year 2014/15. We have added a section on the impact that the methodology has had on the students and teachers who took part in the project, completed the section on recommendations and added another one on possible limitations. 

The final version of the AMORES teaching methodology also includes a useful visual which allows users to see at a glance how it may be applied in their classroom. The methodology may be downloaded here.

​The response to the presentation was excellent, and some of the findings as well as the novel way of gathering data (using student maze books) were shared on social media, particularly Twitter, by conference participants. 

​The AMORES segment gave a broad introduction to the project and described its development, while in the interviews the partners also spoke about their personal experiences engaging with the project and plans for the future.
