Big success of AMORES logo Competition

1st March 2014 was the last day for any school or individual submitting their logo suggestion for the project AMORES and entering the respective competition. More than 100 (a very nice number) logo suggestions were submitted by more than 20 schools (private, public, primary, secondary, high schools, vocational schools, special education schools, etc). It was very encouraging for the project partnership to receive such a big response from the school community. The winner will be announced on 10th March 2014 but all participants are winners since they send a clear message that literature can transcend knowledge and education and especially when combined with the use of ICT. All the submissions can be found below in an order of submission (first ones submitted, presented first). Enjoy them!

(4) We tried to play with the words "amores" and "literature" and provide a cooperation between boys and girls who are friends and enjoy to read fantastic books, books from the school library and also books of their own. The children are working together, they like reading and they participate in competitions. (Kleopatra Vasileiou)

(5) Our logo comprises ICT, books and EU stars to show that European Students have the have the opportunity to read e-books but also conventional books which are made available online. In this sense, we are lucky because books mean something valuable for us.
Picture
(6) AMORES is overlooking the Tree of Knowledge which grows next to a school building within a book in front of the EU stars. After the Tree sheds its leaves, they turn into book leaves, thus showing that knowledge can be shared through books and new ideas can be produced to sustain the Tree of Knowledge, all in a never-ending circle that fills us with hope for the future symbolised by the white bird.
Natalia Tzitzi
(7) Love Books. My logo aims at pointing out that books can provide us with knowledge of the world and of ourselves. Through reading we, students around Europe, can grow to be better people, more loving and more compassionate.
Picture
(9) My logo consists of two book pages where AMORES as well as a suggestion can be seen. Through this logo I am trying to convince European children to turn to books for entertainment and information and make the most out of this advantage we have over children in the past. In fact, I feel books deserve to be loved!
Picture
(8) My logo consists of European Union stars and a school building with a book on top of it. The book seems as if it is about to fall off the roof of the school building. Looking closer at the book one can see that it is a German children’s book translated into English. By this logo, I meant to show that reading is a pastime rarely taken up by children and young people. Nonetheless, through reading literature European students can come closer to each other. In my opinion, school can be of fundamental assistance to children’s becoming mature and responsible readers who use books creatively.

(11) Our logo comprises two distinctive icons:the pen and the keyboard of a personal computer in a merging dialogue of productive learning process. It depicts the transition of reading literature from traditional textbooks to computerised literary works. The author's pen clicks on the keyboard letters to create stories which will unfold on a computer screen , before the very eyes of our 'digital native' learners

(16) This logo has two main components: books and computer (Internet). Letters on the screen indicate usage of computer for learning activity. There are few big books and a small computer on top which suggest that computer isn’t the main focus but only a tool for sharing your knowledge with world (planet is shown in a very simple way without the focus on specific countries). Letter suggest communication by paper, and numbers suggest communication via „computer language“(old-modern). (Monika Rodanec)

(19) I communicate and read I read and communicate ... children of the world, read literature, which through teaching, they use as communication code and thanks to the means of Information and Communication Technologies, distant communication is achieved, while different and diverse personalities or cultures are brought together, aleviating this way differences and contrasts. Educational methodology to promote European and National Literature with the head of ICT effective practices. Promotion of European and national literature is currently under reform. Being forced to catch up with evolution and development, it has to be assisted by the Internet. The web is a space that differentiates learner participation, respects anonymity, is more attractive, while communication is faster. Planning the actions should be organized according to the potential of the school, so that they will be innovative and compatible to the principles of sustainability. Designing was based on axes of Information and Communication Technologies, Literature, Education, the surpassing of national borders and the relationship among these axes. The logo wants to show that learners from different countries can meet, cooperate and exchange ideas around literature topics, by using the Web as means. Emphasis is paid on the role of the school and the necessity to develop the appropriate attitudes from the side of the learners so that they will come closer with the book and literature as well as start using the computer to search, cooperate with other groups from many parts of the word that are avid readers. Promoting European and National Literature should be planned carefully and methodically. Teachers and learners must be organized in such a way, to cooperate creatively and efficiently. Helpful measures could be: • Creating Literature ‘Groups’. There is opportunity for deeper approach and seizing of the subject. • Organizing on-line communities, focused on computer training.. • Having libraries in all classrooms with easy access. • An electronic books bank. • A platform to exchange reading experience with other learners in other languages • Identification of effective ways to create literature interest and stimulations to learners. • Development of communication patterns among individuals or groups. • Selection of literature works to be promoted, under regulations without commitments and restrictions that will leave room for further creation. Particularly National Literature should be free from exaggeration and nationalistic extremes. Measures could be: • Providing learners with stimulations to create their own literature work. • Orienting literature teaching and promoting democratic work, after careful reading and critique. • Organizing a directory with all actions and interventions recorded. To Sum Up. Creating Literature Groups, cooperation between teaching and learners, careful selection of literature work, reading, analyzing, commenting, posting on-line, communicating with learners from other countries, exchanging opinions, creating websites to publish work and at the end of the school year, a seminar open to the community. 3RD-4TH-5TH GRADE (Tina-Stamatia Mantikou)

(20) How we planned the logo To design the logo, we had in mind the purpose of the context. We want to promote collaborative and creative reading. We want people to use computers and the internet to help reading. I want to see this in schools and in home. We also believe that this can bring countries together. This is known as transmedia narrative or transmedia story-telling. For that reason, the top of the logo has the name of AMORES project, which we thank for giving us this opportunity. The bottom has covers of books that we like. Right above the covers, in the middle of the logo we have painted computers. With the help of the computers we can find or show books to read from many countries. Of course at the bottom right hand corner of the logo we have our message, names and schools’ name. (John Giannikopoulos)
Picture
(21) This picture shows an idea to combine computers with book reading and communication so that to exchange opinions for books we read. For example, we can read a book here in Rhodes at the school and children in another school e.g. in New York to read the same book and share views through ICT. In this way, students are involved with literature and cooperation. (Valia Dimitrakopoulou)
