Thursday was another eventful day for the AMORES project team in Dubrovnik.
The day started off with the last partner meeting on the project. Following the pattern of previous meetings – held over the last two years in Greece, Denmark, Poland and Sweden – team members from nine partner organisations gathered at the Valamar Lacroma Hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia, to share project results and discuss the wrapping up of the project, as well as any follow-up activities.
In the afternoon Dr Geoff Walton and Dr Mark Childs, of Northumbria University and Coventry University respectively, held a workshop at the annual CUC (CARNet Users Conference). These two researchers on the project presented the possibilities offered by the use of ICT, and specifically the AMORES teaching methodology, in the teaching of literature.
Piloting the AMORES teaching methodology in five schools across Europe has demonstrated clearly that the methodology increases learner engagement with works of literature. The workshop participants, all working in the field of education, were very interested to hear how the methodology could be applied in their own contexts.
